Hola amigos espero que hayas disfrutado tu día!
I can’t believe that I had school today. We are literally being buried under snow and ice and my school was the only one in the area that wasn’t closed down for the day. Oh and the boiler broke so we all froze our butts off (my economics teacher had his windows open!). Not a spectacular way to spend my friday. It get’s better though!
The other night my mom surprised me with my very own copy of Food Inc. After watching the movie I can say that I am in love with it. This movie exposes everything that is wrong with the food industry today. It reveals how four or five major food companies are in control of our food supply, and the companies wish to “process” everything is beginning to affect even the healthy foods such as fruits, veggies and grains. While our nation that spent about 46 million dollars on health foods and diet products alone last year, we are continuing to be mislead by big corporations on exactly what is healthy. Why is it that a nation that spends so much on “health food” and health care, being plagued by obesity and having more health problems than ever?
This movie discusses these issues and more. If you want a thought-provoking movie I would totally recommend it! It just so happens that this movie also acknowledges just a few of the benefits of a meat free diet.
Speaking of diets and being healthy, my girl Katie is doing a fun new challenge called Vegan Thursday. The aim of this challenge is to eat more wholesome and vegan foods, just one day a week. Like Katie I’m already vegan, so for me every thursday will be vegan, but I am going to take this challenge too! Every thursday I will try to make something new and exciting! Or at least a little more inventive. I think this is a really good way to expand my recipe box and to try some new things.
Are you ready for change? Perhaps for next thursday you can rent Food Inc. and make a delicious vegan meal! ;)
So for week one of the Vegan Thursday challenge I made this…
- sweet corn
- organic tofu
- broccoli florets
- lemon juice, garlic and some salt and pepper action
This was so simple and I put it together in just minutes. Can you believe that this was my first time making a stir fry? It turned out pretty scrumptious if I do say so myself.
I’m so excited for my first day on the job tomorrow – but im a little nervous too! I suppose it’s always like that when you start a new job. Its going to be a busy day though since I’m still working at my first job in the early afternoon, and then going into the FIC around 4 o’clock. I can’t wait to tell you guys all about it!
