Versatile Blogger Award & Aladdin’s Lovin

MMM.. Yum yummy!

The other night my good friend Pat and I went out to dinner at my favorite middle eastern place, Aladdin’s. I have been diggin’ hummus and pita bread like there is no tomorrow! So this really hit the spot.

Organic flowering fruit iced tea’s to drink.

We chose the same appetizer that I have had every time so far.

Hummus, tabbouleh, baba ganoush, falafel and grape leaves (these have cheese in them so I passed!)

Why mess with a good thing?? πŸ˜‰

I promised myself that I was going to try something new! I was not, REPEAT not going to get something I had before. And I succeeded. I chose to get a pita pizza called the Ali Baba Pitza.

Pureed eggplant, sliced tomatoes, katamala olives (love these!) roasted eggplant slices all on warm and crispy pita. I had them hold the cheese on mine to make it vegan. This was so delicious, I am so glad that I chose to get this. YUM!

My plate. I had a little bit of everything and I made sure to work my leafy green’s in there too. I actually ended up taking more than half of my pitza home with me because I was so stuffed!

Lately I have been on this tabouleh kick! I crave it every single day, and I have no clue why! What foodie things have you been craving lately?

Okay, now the other day I got an email from Keri, saying that she awarded me the The Versatile Blogger Award!Β  Keri you are such a sweetie pie!!

  • Thank the person who gave you the award.
  • Share seven things about yourself.
  • Give this award out to 15 other bloggers that you think are fabulous, interesting and deserving.
  • Contact each of the bloggers you chose.

For those of you who don’t read Keri’s blog I Eat Trees (which you should!), she is one excellent writer and a passionateΒ  vegan. πŸ™‚ Thank you again Keri!

Okay, now I believe I need to share 7 things about myself so here we go!

  • I have a very large obsession with Lady Gaga, I think she is one of the most talented songstresses EVER!
  • My dream is to someday open my own fitness studio where I will do personal training, teach Zumba Fitness, yoga and then do nutritional consulting and cooking classes. My goal is to make health (and being vegan!) accessible and easy for everyone!
  • I have this weird thing with teeth. I HATE them, they just freak me out. I have nightmares that they fall out all the time, and I always am brushing them.
  • I am very picky about my clothes and jewelry matching. I have to be color coordinated… the same goes for my school supplies. I’m a little nerdy but each class has to have its own color, with corresponding matching pens and highlighters (sheesh! that’s embarrassing!)
  • When I was younger I NEVER ate vegetables, or fruit. Or anything healthy. I lived off of boxed pizza’s and Beefaroni. My how things have changed! Now I get queasy just thinking about it..
  • I used to be very shy, and I still can be. But overall exercise and treating my body good has given me more confidence!
  • My favorite animal is a panda bear, I think that they are the cutest things ever!! But I actually love all animals (except bugs!)

Now for the hard part. I have to choose only 15 wonderful women to receive the Versatile Blogger Award.

The lovely lady behind Healthy Exposures

It was so hard to only pick fifteen ladies, because so many deserve it! But congratulations to you all! πŸ™‚

Today was supposed to be my day off, but I just got called into work. SIGHHHHH. After working eight days in a row I am in much-needed of a break, but “I was his only hope.” Sometimes being responsible isn’t any fun. I love my job don’t get my wrong, it’s just so tiring. I really would love to take a little breather before I jump right in and start school and working both on my on campus jobs. Have you ever found being responsible to be tough??

So I’m off to get ready for work! Then after work I’ll be heading to the gym. The past week I have been doing 2-a-days! Its kicking my butt, but it totally whipping me back into shape after my little period of over indulgence.

Question of the day – What foods have you been craving?

  2. Awwwwww you are the sweetest girl ever! Put a huge smile on my face… but I won’t send you a photo, for fear of scaring you with my teeth ;).

  3. Aww! Thanks sister:)

My foodie kick lately has been watermelon. It’s so refreshing I could seriously eat it for breakfast lunch and dinner. I LOVE your pita creation!

  4. Man oh man I’ve been craving myself some peanut soup . . . Really, anything with peanut flavor. Weird!

There’s a line in an episode of Grey’s Anatomy *yeah, I’m one of those people* where a character says “we’re grown ups. When did that happen? And how can we make it stop?” There are time where that is exactly how I feel. Where’d all this being responsible come in? And paying bills? oy.

Happy Fun Friday, miss! Rock those 2-a-days.

I don’t understand where the pureed eggplant is in the Ali Baba Pitza, is it inside or on top? I kinda want to recreate it at home :3

    I love pandas…<3 ❀

  6. I LOVE Aladdin’s! Seriously one of my favorite restaurants πŸ™‚ Lately I’ve found myself eating really simple yogurt messes…nothing fancy at all. Just some Greek yogurt, Kashi cereal, banana and a squirt of honey or agave πŸ™‚

  7. Thanks for the award! πŸ™‚

When I was little, I used to wish I could have a panda bear for a pet. My dream is to visit the panda sanctuary in China and hold one in real life!

I’ve had those weird dreams about all my teeth dropping out too. I’ve asked other people, and have found that not everybody has them. I don’t know what they mean, but they certainly are distressing. Maybe the purpose of those dreams is to make you really happy to wake up!

Yes, being responsible is a tough path, and I’m not sure there are enough rewards to being “his only hope” on your only day off. A friend of mine was also the “only hope” too much of the time, and she worked 57 days without a single day off, and even then, she got a call on what was supposed to be a whole day off after 57 days full time.

I’m the one who turns off my cell phone when I’m supposed to be on call. I admit it, I’m a bad dawg.

  16. That food looks so yummy! It’s been way too long since I’ve been to my favorite Middle Eastern restaurant. I don’t hate teeth, but I have had the “teeth falling out” dream before. It seems to be a pretty common one. Weird!

  20. Oh Michal! Thanks for the award! That makes me feel very special! πŸ˜€

Guess what I’ve been craving lately… kale! Funny huh?! I just rinse it, tear it up, put a little Goddess dressing on it and go to town! Sometimes I dress this salad up with other veggies but sometimes it’s all kale!

I decided I like kale! πŸ™‚ I only wish my local store sold it organic. I have to make a special trip downtown to WholeFoods to get it pesticide-free and I don’t do that very often. Darn. I still enjoy it though!

I just found your blog and i lovee it! Also, don’t you love alladins? Mediterrannean food is amazing. But i haven’t eaten any since i became vegan so i have yet to experience that πŸ™‚ but i have been to a few vegan restaurants such as ethiopian food πŸ™‚ purely delicious!

  22. I’m really behind on reading blogs, so I’m sorry about the delay. Thanks for thinking of me. You’re so sweet as always.

I’ve been craving chocolate, as usual. It’s just part of being a girl I guess. I actually made something cooked the other day that was chocolate. I tried the Chocolate Mug Cake over on the Fitnessista blog. Now that was good stuff.
